6 Things Your Manager Will Secretly Love You For (Early Career Edition)
Starting out in the art world (or any world, really) comes with one golden rule: make life easier for your manager. They’re juggling inboxes, deadlines, client dramas, and probably a questionable coffee habit. The more you can become the person who just gets it, the faster you’ll stand out. Here’s how:
🆕 Fresh On The Board of Art World Openings
Dear Agony Aunt,
I burn to be an artist — it’s the thing that makes me feel most alive. But with how difficult the economic situation is, I’m afraid that chasing this dream will turn that fire into burnout. How do I keep my passion without losing myself to it?
Dear Brave Creative Soul,
Your fear doesn’t mean you’re weak — it means you’re paying attention.
Passion doesn’t have to be all-consuming to be real. In fact, fire lasts longest when it’s tended gently, not constantly fed. You don’t need to prove your dedication through exhaustion or instability. Art isn’t only made in moments of sacrifice; it’s also made in moments of safety.
Try separating who you are from how you survive. It’s okay if your creativity doesn’t carry the full financial weight right now. Many artists build in seasons — seasons of income, seasons of output, seasons of quiet growth. None of them cancel the dream.
Protect one small, sacred space where art exists without pressure. No metrics. No monetising. Just creation for you. That’s where the flame renews itself.
And remember: burnout comes not from loving something too much, but from believing it must save you.
You are allowed to build slowly. You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to keep the fire warm instead of blazing.
Your art doesn’t need to burn you to be real. It only needs you to stay.
Yours ever faithfully,
Love, The Girls ✨

Powered by Nena Lang
Nena Lang is a Vienna-based contemporary artist working in abstract painting. Her practice centers on layering, using palette knives and unconventional tools to translate inner states into physical form.
With a background in theatre, Lang brings a deep understanding of presence, timing, and emotional truth as lived experience. Painting entered her life later, during a period when words and roles no longer felt sufficient. On canvas, she found a space where emotion could exist without explanation – raw, contradictory, and honest.
Her paintings are built slowly, through resistance, pressure, and repetition. Rather than seeking chaos, Lang works through structure, using rhythm and order to contain intensity. Texture, shadow, and movement become carriers of emotion, allowing the work to be felt before it is understood.
Lang’s work invites a quiet dialogue between painting and viewer. Her paintings have been exhibited internationally across Europe and the United States, including New York, Miami, Milan, and Venice, with participations in the XIV Florence Biennale and the 59th and 60th Venice Biennale. She continues to explore themes of emotion, memory, identity, and transformation through an evolving abstract language.
