about the residency:PLOP residency is an artist-run residency offering one-month residencies for three artists per month to come and make work. Plop was founded in 2018 by London-based artist Oli Epp. The residency provides studio visits for the artists from industry professionals to help the artists in residence along the way – whether that be career advice, help writing about their work, constructive critiques or simply suggesting artists they should meet here in London.

about the gallery

Cob Gallery was established in 2011 and focuses its program on multi-disciplinary, London based and emerging artistic talent. Continuing the original conception as an artist-led project space, the gallery maintains a culture of close collaboration and mutual support between makers and curators, offering an inclusive and nourishing platform.

As co-hosts, Cob will provide brand new studio spaces and artistic support during the residency. Together, we will arrange studio visits, tutorials and external mentorship from working artists and industry professionals.

the artists

Madinah Farhannah is a London-based writer, performance artist and visual artist. Her practice explores the (mis)representation of the Black female body within Western society. She recently completed her MA in Performance Making at Goldsmiths University. “I embrace the slur of angry Black woman and use my practice to try and navigate a world that does not make space for me. I am angry, but I am also determined to heal myself and others. We can resist the stereotypes still used to control us and ultimately we can rise.”www.madinahfarhannah.squarespace.com

Eve Stainton is a multi-disciplinary performance artist interested in the politics of uncodeable queer presence and its intersections with race and class. They create multi-disciplinary performance worlds that hold movement practices, digital collage, and welded steel, and other invisible forces like waves, imagination and drama. Stainton is interested in the production of conflicting states and textures to unravel essentialist thinking, with the intent to create more expansive understandings of the lesbian identity, non-gender/variance, and perceptions of the ‘real’. Recent choreographic work includes ‘Dykegeist’, which was commissioned and presented by ICA @icalondonwww.evestainton.com

Natalia Gonzalez is a Spanish painter based in London. Her work is filled with historic symbolism, paying attention to the traditions, gestures and habits we have inherited. Natalia’s work merges the universal characters with the constant supply of images we are subjected to daily aiming to blur the boundaries between the divine and the secular in order to gesture towards our ways of desiring, feeling or being in the world. She currently has a solo show ‘I Saw Something Else Under the Sun’ open at Galerie S bastien Bertrand in Switzerland.www.nataliagonzalezmartin.uk

House of London Sabine Moritz  @Pilar Corrias Booth A02Frieze Member LoveRegents Park Oct 13-17

Pilar Corrias is pleased to present a solo booth of new works by Sabine Moritz at this year's Frieze London, featuring pairings of paintings and works on paper.   The display builds on the body of work shown in Moritz’s solo show ‘Mercy’ at Pilar Corrias earlier this year, which reflected upon and responded to the unprecedented political, economic, and environmental shifts of the past year. The new works demonstrate the artist’s continuing development in her approach to abstraction, presenting intense compositions of dynamic brushstrokes and vivid colours.  Find out more about Sabine Moritz and her work here.
