...a super shiny Monday all of you!Spring has sprung, despite the hopefully final snowfall last week, and with it comes excitement and the sense that things are looking up :)Longer days, flowers bloom, meeting IRL might resume?( and yes this week we are rhyming a bit) So this week we kick it off tomorrow morning at 9 am with our gals at The22 with a round of Circuit Training. We probably haven't done that since school, so that's gonna be interesting. Tomorrow evening the fab Lærke and Margherita will join us to talk Crafts, Knitting, Art, Fashion, Motherhood, and Superpowers. We cannot wait. To get your full Art fix on Tuesday also: tune into Angeliki's talk on new practices in art collecting, curating, philanthropy, and more.Thursday we virtually head to London and tune into The National Archives: "Uncovering Hidden Stories: Women in the Archives"Check out this great initiative www.thewiesuite.com. We'll be sure to donate some of our time :) Super exciting both from a mentoree or mentor perspective. For those of you in parts of the world where museums are still closed check out VOMA: https://voma.space/Lastly, we are super excited that finally, we will be hosting our first IRL event in Dubai on the occasion of the art fair.Separate mailing to follow... feel free to ping us at [email protected] or [email protected] if you will be in town for the fair. Craftsmanship: The Next Superpowerwith Margherita and LærkeTuesday - March 23rd6:00pm CET
So Handcraft. It was a bit dreaded in school and the scarf we all had to knit didn't quite turn out as we imagined, but there is so much more to it. Since then we read about the soothing powers of picking up the needles ( google Dr Barry Jacobs of Princetown University +knitting ;), we all swooned over amazing knitwear and I know a whole lot of women and men that have since their schooldays picked up the needles quite successfully.
We will sit down with two luminaries in the field and learn where the artistic application of those formerly deemed housewifey skills can take you. Margherita and Lærke.

The National Archives presents Uncovering Hidden Stories: Women in the ArchivesFri, 26 Mar 2021,15:00 CET
Join Angelina Osborne in exploring the hidden voices of women in the archives, women who campaigned to have control over their lives and their families. From the Caribbean to India, to Britain, we are afforded small glimpses into these women’s lives, including the determination to receive a university education, serving the country during wartime, to raising awareness of injustices in institutions.
Angelina is an experienced historical researcher, writer and editor, having worked on a range of projects related to slavery, memory, citizenship and cultural heritage. She has a wealth of experience on the public history of slavery and emancipation, having worked on these subjects with museums, libraries and archives, NGOs and community organisations, and presented programmes on slavery and the Black presence in Britain on radio and television. She received her PhD in History from the Wilberforce Institute for the Study of Slavery and Emancipation, University of Hull. Her book co-authored with Patrick Vernon entitled 100 Great Black Britons is published September 2020.
