Bespoke Island Retreat!!CHANIA CRETE
email: [email protected] for details
No set date as airlines are offering flexible tickets this year. Any groups interested can reach out to us from now and up to 3 weeks before they plan on traveling if they want to join the retreat. Most properties are offering flexible dates or free cancelation up to two weeks' notice this year so we will look for what is available at the time and offer them options. Hence it being a bespoke experience. We aren’t tied down to 1 hotel or business. We are going to be running this program from the 1st of July to the end of September and are working with multiple hospitality professionals. "The way it works is once there is an inquiry about the RedD Art Retreat after the initial pdf with all the options has been received we then send interested parties a questionnaire with several questions for additional information on dates, budget, and preferences and offer them packages to look over and choose from based on the answers provided. It is a completely bespoke experience.

Check out ULAY WAS HEREthanks to our member Hana Ostan Ožboltdirector of the Ulay Foundation

After the StormVon Allin’s Split Canvasvia Smart Advisory
Thanks to @stephaniemanasseh @smartadivosry @accessibleartfairThrough the split canvases that form Von Allin’s breadth of work, the artist explores universal themes such as breaking up, sticking together, being caught up, holding onto the old—as well as onto the new that can arise from it. The artist physically divides the canvas in order to reinforce and encapsulate a feeling of change. The divided canvases also allow for these sculptural paintings to capture a sense of rupture and of a harmonious falling into place. In this sense, the paintings become installations.
The 2020 pandemic proved to serve as another source of inspiration for Von Allin. While the pandemic collectively demanded a lot from us, the artist felt compelled to put out hope for a brighter future through her split oeuvres. While the breaks and cuts are still there subliminally, the desire for lightness, colour, and brighter days ahead champions further after the storm.
The recent incorporation of ribbons in particular speak to this message of resilience and a love of living. Elegantly stretched around the picture frame, they demonstrate the strength that holds us together… ultimately serving as a gift to ourselves.
In the end, each viewer is free to complete the work with their own experiences.

Gender, Art and Social Media -Behind the Screen with Sopie SteinerThursday 13 May at 6:00 pm (Berlin)5:00 pm (London)noon (NYC)
In her work, Sophie Steiner is exploring how new technologies and social media affects human behavior, perception, identity, and especially mental health.
Besides her role as an artist, she is also a student in the disciplines of art history and gender studies. Her studies influence her artistic work a lot because she gains a lot of inspiration from scientific theories. She has gained media attention through her ongoing series BEHIND THE SURFACE which aims to highlight the impact of beauty standards on social media on young women and their mental health. The project developed into an interactive IRL installation giving voice to everyone who feels marginalized and repressed by society.
In times of pandemic, when there is nothing left to share but oneself, we are more exposed to ourselves through the objectified visibility of ourselves through smartphone or notebook camera than ever before. But what does that do to us? And how much is human thinking and behavior already shaped by new technologies? I am currently working on a video project in which I am trying to explore these questions.
