Chanel has recently revealed that Creative Director Virginie Viard has made the decision to depart from her role. Known for French street chic, Viard was originally Karl Lagerfeld’s right arm and moved from his side into the spotlight as his chosen successor, following his passing, making her solo debut in 2020.  As we anticipate the dawn of a new era for Chanel, who would you envision leading the brand next?

3. Rare King Charles Sculpture Sparks International Bidding War at Hansons Auctioneers

This recently unearthed ceramic, potentially the sole known sculpture by King Charles, ignited an international bidding war at Hansons Auctioneers. The pottery goat, crafted by King Charles, fetched £8,500. This small ceramic figure, owned for 55 years by a Canadian named Raymond Patten, was auctioned in the UK. Patten received the sculpture on his 21st birthday from his great aunt, who worked as a cook at Cambridge University.

4. Working Arts Club: New London Club for Working-Class Art Professionals

A new club for working-class individuals in the art world is set to launch in London. The independent organization, named ‘Working Arts Club’, aims to support visual arts workers from lower socioeconomic backgrounds across the UK by hosting various events. Founded by Meg Molloy, the head of communications at Stephen Friedman Gallery, Working Arts Club will serve as a hub for networking, socializing, and bringing people together. Since its announcement on LinkedIn and Instagram on May 24, hundreds of people have already signed up.

5. Rupert Murdoch is now Art Collector Dasha Zhukova’s Stepfather

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is now collector Dasha Zhukova’s stepfather after marrying retired Russian biologist Elena Zhukova at his Californian vineyard. The union of Zhukova and Murdoch is making headlines due to Murdoch’s wealth, influence, and age, along with Zhukova’s prominent role in the art world, ties to Russian oligarchs, and connections to a powerful shipping dynasty. The intimate ceremony saw the 93-year-old tycoon and his 67-year-old bride tie the knot surrounded by close family and friends.
