1. Previous Jewels 

Kim Kardashian outbid several other eager bidders in a Sotheby’s London auction this week to buy a cross-shaped pendant worn by Princess Diana as a necklace. The pendant realised a price double the pre-auction estimate of $197,453. Said to be one of Princess Diana’s favorite pieces, the Attallah cross is a pendant created in the 1920s by court jewellers Garrard. She most famously wore it in October 1987, paired with a Catherine Walker dress, to a charity gala in support of Birthright.

2. Prized Possessions of Fashion Royalty up for Auction

Elsewhere in the auction world, this February Christie’s New York is set to offer the collection of the legendary fashion editor André Leon Talley in one live and two online sales. The auction includes Talley’s handbags, clothing, and precious artworks. Proceeds will go towards the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York and Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina.

3. A New Spin on an Old Master

When Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum opens the largest exhibition on Johannes Vermeer this spring, it will mean the Mauritshuis museum will be missing its star attraction “Girl With a Pearl Earring” during the duration of the show. In its place, the museum has invited the public to submit contemporary alternatives to the famed oil painting to fill the empty wall. The My Girl With a Pearl campaign is open to everyone. 4. Freaky Friday 

Emily in Paris met American Psycho at the Louis Gabriel Nouchi A/W 2023 show this week. The Parisian fashion house made actor Lucas Bravo ( who is Emily’s handsome chef neighbor) the star of the show, with blood splashed across his face, à la Patrick Bateman.
