Your weekly art world cheat sheet

A WEEKLY WRAP UP OF ART, FASHION AND POP CULTURE

Welcome to the Art Girl Fax newsletter, where we explore the intersection of art, fashion, and pop culture.
Now that we’ve entered the Year of the Fire Horse, it feels like culture is moving faster, louder, and a little more fearlessly—burning through old formats and reinventing itself in real time. After weeks of deadlines, openings, and studio visits, this is your curated pause: fresh highlights, unexpected gems, and the stories shaping the moment.

🌸 GENTLE MONSTER BLOOMS WITH FKA TWIGS

Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster opens 2026 with “Bouquet,” a Spring 2026 collection inspired by the delicate architecture of plant stems. Co-directed by FKA twigs and photographer Jordan Hemingway, the campaign unfolds as a surreal, dialogue-free film set to an unreleased track, where sound, movement and visual texture embody themes of transformation and metamorphosis. Once again, Gentle Monster proves it’s less about products and more about world-building—where eyewear becomes experience and fashion turns poetic.

🪰 ROLEX GETS A VERY UNEXPECTED MAKEOVER

In a project called Time Flies, a one-off Oyster Perpetual dial was transformed by houseflies fed with colored dye, leaving organic, unpredictable markings across the watch face. Created by a Spanish street-art collective, the experiment turns Swiss precision into a conversation about chance, chaos and contemporary art—sparking debate across collector communities. The piece is a reminder that even the most sacred luxury symbols can be reimagined as bold, playful statements.

🏝️ SIMOSE ART GARDEN VILLA: DESIGN HOTEL DREAM

Just an hour outside Hiroshima, Simose Art Garden Villa combines contemporary art, sweeping sea views and architecture by Shigeru Ban into a rare hospitality experience. Inspired by local shipyards and built with recycled materials, the complex blurs the line between indoors and outdoors, with highlights like the Paper House made from repurposed cardboard tubes. It’s sustainability, design and cultural immersion wrapped into one quietly spectacular destination.

🐕 CLOT DRESSES YOUR PET FOR ART FAIR SEASON

Streetwear brand CLOT ushers in the Lunar New Year with a playful Pet Collection, bringing festive symbolism to four-legged companions. From bold red and deep purple Chinese-style shirts to logo hoodies and olive vests, each piece blends comfort with the brand’s signature aesthetic. At $51 per item, this might be the chicest way yet to make sure your dog is more fashion-forward than you.

💥 PARTNER SPOTLIGHT — CAN ART FAIR MADRID 💥

Powered by CAN Art Fair

After more than a decade in Madrid and alongside its Ibiza edition, UVNT Art Fair has evolved into CAN Art Fair Madrid — Contemporary Art Now, uniting both fairs under one bold, future-facing identity, with a VIP preview on March 5th and the fair running for four days during Madrid Art Week at Matadero Madrid. If CAN Ibiza is the sun—celebration, desire, light—then CAN Madrid is the moon: emotion, urgency, intuition, and transformation, staying true to its mission of championing art born from the now, new visual languages, and artists and galleries that dare to take risks. Because art doesn’t wait. It happens now.
