Your weekly art world cheat sheet

A WEEKLY WRAP UP OF ART, FASHION AND POP CULTURE

Welcome to the Art Girl Fax newsletter, where we explore the intersection of art, fashion, and pop culture.
This week moves between playful interiors, animal imaginaries, cinematic fashion nostalgia, and public art interventions—a soft, slightly surreal mix where objects, characters, and color take center stage. From immersive living spaces to velvet creatures and viral film references, culture right now feels tactile, humorous, and quietly escapist.

After weeks of openings, shows, and scroll-induced overstimulation, this is your curated pause: fresh highlights, unexpected gems, and the stories shaping the moment.

🏔️ INSIDE ROLF SACHS’ OLYMPIAHAUS

Somewhere between artwork, archive, and lived-in experiment: Highsnobiety recently stepped inside artist and designer Rolf Sachs’ Olympiahaus in St. Moritz—a former Olympic ski jump building transformed into a deeply personal universe of objects and ideas.

Described as a “living archive of modern design”, the space brings together contemporary art, design classics, and Sachs’ own works in a setting that feels less like a home and more like a constantly evolving installation.

What makes it compelling is the refusal to separate disciplines—furniture, art, and everyday objects coexist in a way that reflects a broader shift in the art world toward total environments rather than isolated works.

A reminder that collecting today is no longer just about ownership, but about creating immersive worlds.

🐙 LOEWE TURNS THE RUNWAY INTO A VELVET MENAGERIE

At Loewe’s Fall/Winter 2026 show, the runway became a tactile playground of texture, color, and character. Joyful splashes of bright hues met glossy, liquid-like finishes and velvety surfaces, drawing attention to material experimentation—from bouclé leather coats to knit tartan dresses and gradient-trimmed shearling that felt almost cocoon-like.

But the true scene-stealers came via the house’s collaboration with artist Cosima von Bonin. Her whimsical animal figures—lobsters, baby clams, dogs, and octopuses—appeared both as front-row companions and as mischievous charms adorning the iconic Amazona 180 bag.

Celebrating 180 years of LOEWE in 2026, the bag becomes more than an accessory: a playful carrier of narrative, humor, and artistic dialogue. The result is a show that reads less like fashion and more like an immersive, slightly surreal exhibition, where objects, textures, and characters coexist in a world of endless play.

💙 ANNE HATHAWAY RETURNS TO CERULEAN BLUE

In a moment that instantly sent the internet into a spiral, Anne Hathaway was spotted on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2 wearing a cerulean blue sweatshirt—an unmistakable nod to one of the original film’s most iconic monologues.

The look, simple at first glance, quickly became a meta-fashion moment: a fictional reference turned real-life costume turned viral image. It’s a reminder of how deeply fashion in film shapes cultural memory—and how a single color can carry an entire narrative.

Cerulean isn’t just blue. It’s fashion history, irony, and internet culture wrapped into one.

🐱 GIANT CATS TAKE OVER HONG KONG

Meanwhile in Hong Kong, public space turned playful during WestK Fun Fest 2026, where oversized cat sculpturesappeared across the West Kowloon Cultural District.

Some lounging, some stretching, all monumental—the installations transformed the waterfront into an open-air playground. Equal parts cute and uncanny, the sculptures invited visitors to interact, photograph, and momentarily step into a more lighthearted version of the city.

In a moment where much of the art world leans conceptual, these works remind us of something simple but powerful: joy as a public experience.
