It is rather weird to compose oneself and write about an embroidery workshop while the world is truly in turmoil. We at The Art Gorgeous HOUSE understand that we will never understand but stand in solidarity. Use your voice in whatever form it makes sense for you, donate to a bail fund, go dark on Instagram to give the activist and voices space, create meaningful art, reach out to a friend and check-in. There are many ways you can make a difference. And as a friend who took to the streets last weekend in NY, while Berlin was a blissful sunny Saturday wrote me " If you can find a bit of solace and joy that's not on anyone else's expense, you have to enjoy that." ......Thursday we'll be able to check in with the amazing Lizzy and learn all about embroidery, textile art, and, for those who did their shopping, even make the Chamsa ( the protective hand equally beloved in the tradition of the Muslim, Jewish and Christian faith) ourselves. We will share a conversation about a craft that has been passed down over generations, Textile Art in general and the motif we will be making. 

In short and her own words:Writer and curator Lizzy Vartanian Collier is a fourth-generationembroiderer, a craft passed down from women to women in the Middle East.She has given workshops at Darat Al Funun and Manara Culture in Amman,Jordan, as well as at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Her work has been exhibited at Green & Stone Gallery and Catford Mews in London, as well at The Lab, Darat Al Funun in Amman, Jordan.
